DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Structure Fire

6:12pm--#Fairfield Connecticut--A fire that was believed to have started in the garage area at 145 Mountain Laurel Drive spread to the attic.  The homeowners, their children and rabbit were able to escape without harm.  No firefighters were injured in battling the fire.  Firefighters from Westport and Bridgeport provided mutual aid.  The fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause. STATE POLICE K9 UNIT GRADUATES ELECTRONIC STORAGE DETECTION K9’S

Meriden, CT. (April 15, 2016): Five Labrador retrievers and their law enforcement handlers have graduated from the Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) class, with all training provided by the Connecticut State Police K9 Unit.  This class of five graduated in a ceremony at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy, the second class of K9 teams known as computer K9 teams, or ESD dogs. The Connecticut State Police K9 Unit is the first in the world to train specialized K-9s in detection ofESDs. The computer K9 Teams are specially trained to locate items associated with computers and cell phones. The first two computer K9 teams, CSP Detective George Jupin and K9 “Selma” and Rhode Island State Police Detective Adam Houston and K9 “Thoreau,” successfully graduated in 2012…

I-95 Crash

5:40pm--#cttraffic--#Fairfield Connecticut-- A crash I-95 southbound at the exit 24 off ramp.   A four car crash being reported by firefighters, people still inside one of the cars.  Traffic was slow to begin with with high congestion and low speeds in the area.  No words on injuries.
