DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Man Arrested After Crashing Into Police Cruiser

(Bridgeport, CT -- Nov. 15, 2014) -- A city man faces felony charges after crashing his vehicle into a police cruiser.According to Sgt. Angelo Collazo, he and Officers Rafael  Duran, Michael Falbo and Paul Nikola responded to Putnam Street on a report of a domestic dispute this morning at approximately 9:30 a.m.  Duran received information through dispatchers that the suspect left the the scene before he arrived.Duran circled the block and observed the suspect, who was swerving back and forth into incoming lanes. Westport Police Arrest 2 in Credit Card Fraud

#Westport CT-- On Friday November 14, 2014 at approximately 11:45am, Westport Police responded to DOWNUNDER, 575 Riverside Avenue, on a report of potential credit card fraud /Identity Theft. Suspects phoned in a request to purchase merchandise, then planned to arrive later to pick it up. After the phone order was placed, employees from the store called the credit card company to verify the purchase. After determining the purchase was fraudulent, the police were contacted. Westport Police Detectives and Officers maintained observation in the area and waited for the suspects to arrive. At approximately 2:30pm, two males arrived to claim the items. Westport News: Suspicious Death Investigated

At 0907 hrs a jogger on Partrick Rd located an unresponsive African American male lying on the shoulder of the roadway wearing only a white tank top, blue jeans and brown colored shoes. The jogger flagged down a passing motorist who contacted police. Both the motorist  and the jogger initiated CPR on the individual who was treated and transported from the scene by Westport EMS. The individual was brought to Norwalk Hospital where efforts to resuscitate him failed and he was pronounced dead at 0956 hrs. There were no visible signs of trauma evident on the individual. Fairfield News: Substance in Gould Manor Pond

#Fairfield CT--If you have driven by Gould Manor on Holland Road and saw the firetruck the the firefighters have been trying to contain a very large green substance in the catch basins and pond.  Suzanne, a concerned citizen/neighbor spotted the spill earlier in the day and was mad thinking someone poured anti-freeze into the waterways.   She called Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) who in turned called the Fairfield Firefighters.  Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola coordinated efforts to contain the substance with booms.  The substance may also be a dye that was used to test sewer systems.  I saw firefighters collecting samples before I left.  Special thanks to Suzanne for providing these pictures.
