DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Dogs Die in Fire

Just before 8:30 fire broke out in the kitchen are of 112 Chalmers Avenue (off Park Avenue) Everyone safely made it out of the home but we are told a mother dog and four of her puppies perished in the fire. One puppy did make it out safely. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire out and spend most of their time checking to make sure the fire was out and did not extend behind walls and eves of the structure. No firefighters were injured. Bridgeport News: Fatal Motorcycle Crash Closes Route 8/25 Northbound

10:48pm--#cttraffic--#Bridgeport CT--A motorcyclist has lost his life in a crash on Route 8/25 northbound.  The accident investigation team will have the highway shutdown for an extended period of time.  There is no information on who the victim .  The victims body and motorcycle were at least one hundred feet from one another.  A woman closer to the motorcycle could be seen crying hysterically.  Local streets in Bridgeport near the scene are really jammed with traffic especially on Golden Hill and Washington Avenue area.   Un motorista ha perdido la vida en un accidente en la Ruta 8/25 en dirección norte. Westport News: Catalytic Converter Thief Caught After Exhaustive Observation

#Westport CT--On Thursday August 7, 2014 at approximately 11:35am, Westport Police observed a truck in the area of the Saugatuck Train Station driving through several parking lots. The truck matched the description as being operated by a white male suspected in several catalytic converter thefts in Westport and surrounding towns. Westport Police Officers stopped the truck on Saugatuck Avenue. The operator, Clifford St Arnault, was in possession of a reciprocating saw and recently cut catalytic converters. Also in the truck were motorcycle parts and motor vehicle tire rims. St Arnault was taken into custody without incident. St Arnault is suspected in several other catalytic converter thefts.
