DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Motorcycle Crash Tying Up Seaview Avenue

12:55pm--#cttraffic--#Bridgeport CT--Avoid I-95 northbound exit 29 Seaview Avenue.   A motorcycle accident has traffic down to one lane and traffic is at a crawl.  The accident is between a Fed Ex home delivery truck and the motorcycle.  No word on the motorcyclist's condition, the accident investigation team has been dispatched.  UPDATE:   According to Capt. Robert Evans, the head of the traffic division, the incident involved the operator of a motorcycle and a box truck. The motorcyclist has been identified as Keith Ward, 54, of Bridgeport. He was traveling north on Seaview when he collided with the rear of the box truck. The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle had been reported stolen. First Selectman Mike Tetreau wishes to remind the public that the Fairfield Sidewalk Sales event will take place this coming Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Select merchants will offer advance sales of discount merchandise beginning on Thursday, July 24th. Over 75 vendors are expected to participate in the downtown portion of this year’s event, setting up stands and offering a variety of merchandise for sales along the Post Road from the Heritage Square Shopping Center to the Promenade at the Brick Walk. FREE STATE PARKS WEEKEND

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee today announced that as part of the ongoing celebration of the state parks centennial, this upcomingSaturday and Sunday – July 26 and 27 – will be “Free State Parks Weekend” in Connecticut.  For the weekend, all parking and museum fees will be waived throughout Connecticut’s state park system.  “To encourage everyone to visit a state park in this Centennial year, we are waiving fees at our parks this Saturday and Sunday,” said Governor Malloy, who made the announcement during an event at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden – one of Connecticut’s 107 state parks.  “This means we will not charge the usual parking fees and we will not collect admission fees at…

Bridgeport Police Officer Helps Save Child’s Life

#Bridgeport, CT – July 23, 2014 – A police officer yesterday evening helped save the life of a child in the city. Officer Michael Novia was on patrol in the area of Park Avenue when a woman flagged him down and hysterically stated that her child was not breathing. Novia observed an unresponsive child in the back seat of the vehicle. He radioed dispatchers who alerted medical staff at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center of an incoming patient. He then activated his light and sirens, told the family to follow him and escorted the family to the hospital. Stratford News: Child Left In Car

2:33pm--#Stratford CT-- First responders were dispatched. 444 Ferry Boulevard for a child left unattended inside a car (its 88 degrees out). FED EX Tractor Tractor Trailer Roll Over in Southport

# FAIRFIELD, CT, July 23, 2014: At approximately 2:28 AM Fairfield firefighters responded to a reported tractor-trailer rollover in front of 3355 Post Road, Dunkin' Donuts of Southport.  The accident involved a FedEx tandem tractor-trailer and a small sport-utility vehicle. Lieut. Scott Trembley was the first fire officer on scene established command. The cab and front section of the tandem Fed Ex tractor trailer was laying on the driver’s side, the rear tandem was standing upright. The sport utility vehicle involved in the accident was parked in the center of the roadway.  All occupants were out of their vehicles.  The driver of the tractor-trailer and the two female occupants of the sport-utility received minor injuries and declined treatment.
