DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Homeowner battles the blaze with a garden hose after calling 911. Fire was out when fire department arrives, fire did not extend behind the siding. 12:57am--#Stratford #ctfire report of a chimney fire on 2065 Cutspring Road. Fire department on the way. Twists and turns inside the chimney's design gave firefighters a challenge extinguishing the hot embers. Skate Park Melee in Fairfield

[caption id="attachment_6705" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Police sort info from numerous witnesses"][/caption] Around 5:10pm Thursday afternoon police were called initially for what appeared to be a man grabbing and assaulting kids at the skate park at Jennings Beach. Witnesses tell us that the man came to the park to pick up his son, when he refused to get in the car the skaters attacked the man. I've contacted Fairfield Police and they are still trying to sort the story from numerous witnesses. One youth was taken to checked for a back injury, his condition is unknown a this time. One Car Accident In Fairfield

Fairfield--Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free a woman involved in a single car accident that occurred on Burroughs Road at the intersection of Miro Street shortly after 5:30pm Wednesday. The road was closed as the accident investigation team look into why the car crashed into a tree.

Fairfield Fire Truck Hit By Car

At approximate 3:00 PM on March 5, 2012, Fairfield Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident with injuries on Black Rock Turnpike near Stillson Road. Fairfield Engine 2, Ladder 2 and the shift commander responded to the scene along with Fairfield Police and AMR. Emergency personnel found a 3 car accident with a the driver of one car unconscious and unresponsive locked in his running vehicle. Emergency personnel forced entry into the vehicle, stabilized the vehicle and initiated medical care on the driver . Darien Arts Center Karate Tournament

A karate/marital arts competition took place in Darien Saturday, March 4th at the Darien Arts Center. "This is the first competition where the people running the tournament aren't making a dime" Said Jerry Simon of the Fairfield Villari Self Defense Center. All the proceeds went to the Darien Arts Center. Brawl at Fairfield Hookah Lounge

Radio transmission estimated the brawl to have as many as 30involved.  There were no arrests.  The lounge was closed by management shortly after the brawl.

Fire Displaces 3 On Wallace Court In Bridgeport

Firefighters were already in the area when the call came in and were on scene within a minute. The narrow street with limited access created a challenge in getting equipment to the fire coupled with hazardous conditions when the power line burned off the building and into the road and began sparking. The fire extended into the attic causing delays in fully extinguishing the blaze. Heart Transplant Recipient Meets Donor Family

A heart transplant patient from New York and the family of the little girl who provided his donor heart will met for the first time at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday, March 3 during the Monster Truck Jam. Approximately one year ago, a city resident’s and his two children were involved in a serious auto accident. Sadly, his 5-year-old daughter died from her injuries. The young girl’s heart was donated to a young boy in need. The son who survived the car accident and the young boy who received the heart are both big fans of monster trucks.
