DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Norwalk School Recognized As National Blue Ribbon School

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the U.S. Department of Education is recognizing four Connecticut public schools as 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools, an annual award given to select schools across the nation for demonstrating overall high achievement or success in closing achievement gaps.  The only local school in our area was Tracey Magnet School in Norwalk   Tracey Magnet School serves 415 students in Grades K-5. Approximately 70 percent of the students are from economically-disadvantaged families and 28.9 percent of the students are English learners. The Tracey community has established a set of core values that places a priority on “ethical and performance” values. Bridgeport Police Targets Gang Violence

#Bridgeport CT-- In a report we were first to report on: On Wednesday, September 25, 2019 Task Force Officers (Bpt/CSP Gang Unit / FBI Safe Streets) along with Bridgeport’s Tactical Narcotics Team were working hot spot areas of the city where there is known gang violence. Through a Statewide Grant, Officers from the above units concentrated their efforts towards curving violence pertaining to firearms. Gang Unit Officers are tasked with curbing the criminal activity of warring factions within the city of Bridgeport. Many of these active gang/group members are known to conduct assaults, home invasions, shootings and homicides throughout the city. Shelton News: Threat At Shelton HS To Bring Increased Police Presence

Update – Reyes is still in police custody and is scheduled to appear at Derby Superior Court today (9-26-19). On 9-25-19, Shelton Police received numerous reports regarding a threatening video that was posted online. The video shows a gun and the male states that if someone messes with him tomorrow and he goes to school he is willing to kill someone. Police were able to quickly identify and locate the male in the video. Police also located and seized a weapon that matched the weapon in the video. 18 year old Eliezer Reyes, a Shelton High School student, was arrested and charged with Threatening 1st Degree, Breach of Peace 2nd Degree, and Brandishing a Facsimile Firearm. Ansonia News: Child Walking On Roof Found Living In Deplorable Conditions

2019-09-25@ 8:47am--The Ansonia Police Department received a complaint of a child on the roof of a house on Main Street. Officers located a two-year-old male on the roof of 681 Main Street about 30 feet above the ground. Officer Christopher Kelley was able to talk to the child and keep him from moving around the roof while Sergeant Christopher Flynn and Officer Peter Lovermi III forced entry into the house to get to the child off the roof. Inside the home was the child’s father, David Hustek, and the child’s aunt, Sarah Barker. Both had been sleeping and unaware the child was on the roof of the house. Bridgeport News Robber Arrested After Pursuit

Last night two suspects attempted to rob the store. Suspects were operating a stolen motor vehicle.  When Officers approached, they took off and led officers on a pursuit that ended in PT Barnum.  Officers observed the parties attempting to rob the store with masks and what appeared to be a firearm. The pursuit ended in PT. Bridgeport News: Bridgeport Police Capture Fairfield Robbers

2019-09-25 @11:55pm-- #Fairfield CT--#Bridgeport CT--Just before midnight the Walgreens at 414 Kings Highway East in Fairfield was robbed by two males at gunpoint. About fifteen minutes later Bridgeport Police located two males with masks on at the McDonald's on North Avenue. They attempted to box the suspects in but they fled on a short pursuit down North Avenue, onto Fairfield Avenue. Bridgeport Police finally boxed them in at PT Barnum Housing and took two into custody. It was then they discovered it was the vehicle wanted in the Walgreens robbery. A positive identification was made on the two, one was a minor and transported to the youth bureau the other to booking on Congress Street.
