Bridgeport, CT – The Small Business Administration announced 16,495 small businesses in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District received between $1.3-2.4 billion* in loan assistance through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), supporting 140,916 jobs. Nationwide, the program made more than five million loans totaling approximately $520 billion and supported more than 51 million jobs, representing 84% of small business employment. “Congress acted quickly to authorize and implement the PPP program at the beginning of this pandemic,” said Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04).  “The swift action stanched the bleeding and allowed Connecticut workers to keep lights on and food on the table. Bridgeport News: Stabbing Was Minor Puncture Wound

2020-07-07@ 8:22pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Other media outlets are posting a stabbing that occurred in the 500 block of Hallet Street due to a Bridgeport Police tweet that said "Preliminary report of an assault w/ a dangerous weapon 500th block of Hallett St. Possible party stabbed. BPD on-scene along with AMR. NFI".  NFI is No Further Information.   I went to the scene and a man had a minor puncture wound to his back that didn't require any medical treatment.  I wasn't even going to post it until I saw the other reports.

Bridgeport News: Columbus Statue Taken Down At Seaside Park

Mayor Ganim UPDATE: City officials removed the Christopher Columbus statue at Seaside Park and placed it in storage out of an abundance of caution for the preservation of the historic artifact, the need to respond to modern-day sensitivities, as well as public safety at large. Bridgeport Police Investigate A Serious Crash

#Bridgeport CT-- On July 5, 2020 at approximately 7:16 pm Bridgeport Patrol Officers and Bridgeport Firefighters responded to the scene of a serious crash at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Center Street Extension. A 34-year-old Bridgeport man was traveling southbound on Madison Avenue operating a white 2007 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle.  As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Madison Avenue and Center Street Extension a blue 2005 Toyota RAV4, operated by a 51-year-old Bridgeport man, was traveling eastbound on Center Street Extension.  The operator of the RAV4 attempted to turn left onto Madison Avenue when he crossed the motorcyclist path of travel.  The car and motorcycle collided at the intersection; causing the operator of the motorcycle to be ejected and…
