Bridgeport News: Son Tries To Torch Mom’s Home

Bridgeport During the 1918 Pandemic

If you try to research newspaper articles on the pandemic of 1918 you would have difficulty as the news articles were mostly about World War I.  I found an article from the Bridgeport Telegram dated October 31, 1968 on the 50th anniversary of the flu.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is uncertain where the H1N1 flu strain originated.  Some say Central Asia or like in this article cites Fort Riley, Kansas with its first case on March 15, 1918, where the flu spread throughout Europe by soldiers and sailors.  Again, the world's interest was World War I and the media at the time didn't want to spread additional fears of the flu among soldiers and sailors so the reporting…

Bridgeport News: 3 Year Old Found-Parents NOT Located

2020-05-19--#Bridgeport-- This morning a citizen on Hewitt Street called police to report he found a 3-year-old child.   Westport K-9 assisted in an attempted reverse track to locate the child's residence but was unsuccessful.  It wasn't clear if the child was wandering or if was dropped off.   The child was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and Department of Children and Families were notified.   At this time police still have not been notified of any missing children.  The child is described as Hipsanic male, long hair wearing a red Champion sweatshirt, red pants with black/green sneakers.   This news report is made possible by:
