Finch’s Spokesman Now Speaking For Hartford

Mayor Luke Bronin today announced that Brett Broesder has been named Director of Communications and New Media for the City of Hartford, Conn. In this role, Broesder will serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the capital city. He is replacing Samaia Hernandez, who is pursuing new opportunities.

“I’m thrilled to have Brett on our team,” said Mayor Bronin. “With his wide-ranging experience in communications and policy, he is sure to be an asset to Hartford as we right our fiscal ship and move the city toward a more prosperous future.”

Broesder joins the City of Hartford with more than a decade of communications experience. Most recently, he served as the communications director for the City of Bridgeport, Conn.

Previously, Broesder served in a vast array of senior level communications roles, including: direct mail consultant for The Baughman Company; Communications Director for the Montana Democratic Party; media relations specialist for global communications firm Hill & Knowlton, as well as Ketchum; Policy and Legislative Director for Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin; and Campaign Manager for Peter Kilmartin’s successful Rhode Island Attorney General Campaign in 2010. Broesder holds a B.A. in political science from Rhode Island College.

“I’m honored to join Mayor Bronin and his team,” said Broesder. “It’s an exciting time in the state’s capital city. I look forward to working with folks across the city to share Hartford’s story.”

Unpredictable Snow Storm on the way

**** First Call Snow Map *****

We say First Call because god only knows this storm will bite us in the butt and make us look like fools. But as of now this is what we are seeing. Could it be less?? Yes… could it be more?? highly unlikely. These totals are on the slightly higher side due to the complexity of this storm.

Timing is still a tough call but most of us will be asleep when the heaviest if you want to call it that of the snow will fall. It looks to last into the morning hours in the West and Central parts of the state. It holds out a bit longer in the East.

School delays will be expected especially in Central and Eastern CT. There may be some delays in the West towns but only as a precaution. Look for cancellations in Eastern CT and maybe some over protective school officials in Central CT.

This will be the heavy wet type snow so we could see some power lines and tree branches come down especially in Eastern CT causing some power outages.

Thats all for now we will follow up later on today. Enjoy the Sun while it lasts. It is much cooler outside and the temps will drop as the day goes along.

Video Report: Meet The Bridgeport Police Recruits

#Bridgeport News: One thing I have noticed since with the Ganim Administration is that there is a new openness within the police department.  This week I had the opportunity to meet and talk candidly with the new cadets, most of whom are Bridgeport residents.  Here are six of those recruits discussing why they want to become a Bridgeport Police Officer.  This will be a three part series of that conversation.

Bridgeport News: Angry Pizza Delivery

#Bridgeport Connecticut–The best tip Domino’s Pizza driver Jonathan Council could have received is if he listened to K-9 Officer Mark Martocchio advice to move his car  on the narrow Olive Street ( or hold the olives).  Instead he moved his car  further up the block and now was blocking traffic.  After refusing to show the officer his registration and then throwing it at the officer, instead of receiving an  infraction for improper parking  he then added Interfering with an Officer like adding toppings to a pizza.  After a cheesy mugshot and posting a $5,000 bond he was released from custody.  The officer delivered the pizzas to the woman who ordered it for her family’s dinner and instructed here to contact Domino’s for payment.  No word if any of this showed up on the Domino’s Order Tracker App and Domino’s refused comment.
