Bridgeport Police Department Advise Residents of Traffic Delays and Parking Information Bridgeport, CT –Mayor Ganim and the Bridgeport Police Department are advising residents and visitors of heavy traffic that is expected in the City’s Downtown and South End for the “Soundside Music Festival” which will be held at Seaside Park September 28th-29th. Residents who live near Seaside Park and the festivals access points are encouraged to plan accordingly. The City asks our community to be patient and understand that these traffic delays may occur along Iranistan Ave, South Ave, Barnum Dyke, and other areas for this historic event.  The music festival takes place on Saturday, September 28th and Sunday, September 29th. Bridgeport News: Fatal Shooting

UPDATE: This is officially a confirmed homicide From the Bridgeport Police: At 20:11 hrs Bridgeport ECC received a call regarding an aggravated assault with a firearm in the 150 block of Seaview Ave. This incident is now a confirmed homicide. This is an isolated incident and not a threat to the community. This is an active investigation, no further at this time. A shooting occurred at the 150 block of Seaview Avenue. Bridgeport News: Shots Fired

Police are on the lookout for a black Dodge Charger for discharging a firearm in the area of Andover Street in Bridgeport. The Charger was last seen on I-95 getting off of exit 29. This is all according to unconfirmed state police radio reports, and there is no further information at this time.

Bridgeport News: Double Header Stabbing

ASSAULT DANGEROUS WEAPON 200 BLOCK OF GRANT ST. At 11:33 am Bridgeport ECC received a call of an assault with a dangerous weapon in the 200 block of Grant Street. The male victim was stabbed in the upper area and is in critical condition. There is no more information at this time. ASSAULT DANGEROUS WEAPON/ ROBBERY BROOKS / SPRING At 2:26pm Bridgeport ECC received a call from Bridgeport Hospital Security reporting a male victim arrived at the Emergency Department with a laceration to the arm.The victim states that this incident occurred at a robbery at Brooks and Spring last night. This is an active investigation.

Traffic Advisory – CT United Ride

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the CT United Ride will travel through nine area towns, including Westport, to pay tribute to the victims and first responders of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. The event is Connecticut’s largest annual 9/11 tribute as well as the largest motorcycle ride in the state. The motorcade will follow the route established last year, beginning at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport at approximately 11:30 a.m. and continuing through Westport into Wilton, Redding, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull, and Fairfield, before ending at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. Bridgeport News: 4 AM fire at Don Raphael

The Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to the Don Raphael Restaurant at 256 Oak Street at approximately 4:30 am for a fire in a commercial building. Fire units arrived on scene to find smoke and fire visible from the building at which time an aggressive interior fire attack was conducted. This was placed under control at 5:19 am and no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshall’s office is investigating.

Threatening Roommate Arrested: Convicted Felon Found with Two Handguns

On August 31, 2024, at approximately 3:52 AM, dispatch received a call about a threatening incident involving a firearm at 175 Helen St. The suspect, later identified as Willie Tyron Johnson, was reported to be chasing his roommates down the street while making threats with a firearm. Officers were quickly provided with a description of Johnson and his direction of travel, leading to his swift arrest by patrol officers. An investigation began immediately to find additional evidence. Johnson was subleasing a room at the address where the incident occurred. Since the firearm was not found on Johnson during his initial arrest, officers applied for a risk search warrant to locate it. The judge approved the warrant based on the facts…
