City’s Annual Summer Concert Series Seeking Artists

Man Robbed While Trying to Buy Marijuana

Here is the official police report on the story we brought to you as it happened: #Bridgeport, CT – A 22-year-old city man told police he was assaulted and robbed Tuesday while trying to buy marijuana. Officer Daniel Orlich responded to the Greene Homes apartment complex on a report of a robbery but could find neither the victim nor the suspects. He was sent back a short time later and found the victim, who stated he was hiding and that is why police could not locate him. He went on to state that he went to the complex to buy marijuana because his own “medical marijuana ran out.” While he was trying to buy marijuana, he stated he was jumped by several…

Narcotics Officers Seize Guns, Drugs

(Bridgeport, CT – Feb. 25, 2014) – Police arrested a city man and seized two weapons, heroin and potentially deadly synthetic narcotic last week after the police narcotics team developed information about a heroin dealer. Officer Miguel Perez and Sgt. John Evans learned that the resident of 60 Lee Ave. was dealing heroin in bags stamped with the word “Flow.” Narcotics investigators last week set up surveillance at 60 Lee Ave., where the suspect lives. They located the suspect, David Fernandez, 37, outside and seized 3 bundles  of heroin packaged for street sale. He was placed under arrest. Mayor Finch, Monroe First Selectman Steve Vavrek to join riders on new bus route to Monroe

WHAT:On Thursday, February 27, Mayor Bill Finch and Monroe First Selectman Steve Vavrek will join riders on the new bus service between Bridgeport and Monroe along Route 25. Mayor Finch and First Selectman Vavrek will board the Route 20 bus at Westfield Trumbull Mall and join riders for the trip to Monroe along Route 25. The service is designed to provide morning and afternoon employment-related transportation to the area, according to Doug Holcomb, CEO for Greater Bridgeport Transit.
