#Fairfield CT– At 8:03 PM Wednesday night, the Fairfield Regional dispatch center received a report about a chemical spill in a science lab on the campus of Sacred Heart University. Fairfield Fire Units swiftly responded, and Assistant Chief George Gomola assumed command upon their arrival. The SHU Department of Public Safety had already evacuated and secured the building as a precaution due to the unknown chemicals involved and the potential for reactions. The Fairfield County Hazardous Incident Response Team was summoned to assess and identify the spilled chemicals. Additionally, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection offered assistance. The Fairfield HazMat team entered and secured the scene, containing the spill to the original office, and fortunately, there were no reported student or staff exposures or injuries. University Facilities took over the scene, with a private cleanup contractor on the way. American Medical Response provided medical standby, and the Fairfield Police assisted in securing the incident area on campus.

SHU Accident Arrest- 10 Times Over Legal Limit Traveling 85mph
2023-10-25#Fairfield CT– On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Fairfield Police Crash Reconstructionists make an arrest following the September 29, 2023 crash involving the serious injury of four Sacred Heart University (SHU) students and an Uber driver on Jefferson Street. Following an extensive investigation, it was determined by police crash investigators, that TYLER DELK (19) of South Orange, NJ, and Sacred Heart University student himself, was operating a 2018 Audi S5 Convertible at speeds exceeding 85mph on Jefferson Street. At one point, Delk lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a 2021 Toyota Corolla being operated by an Uber driver and occupied by four female SHU students.
At the time of the collision, Delk was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol which was determined to be ten times the legal limit. In Connecticut, the limit for alcohol for a person under 21 years of age is .02%. Delk was arrested and charged at Saint Vincent’s Hospital with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, (5) Counts of Assault 2nd with a Motor Vehicle, and (5) Counts of Reckless Endangerment. He was released after posting a $250,000 court-set bond and will appear in court when he is medically cleared. The Fairfield Police wish to thank all of those who performed life-saving measures to those involved in this terrible crash on the scene and we wish a speedy recovery to everyone.

2023-10-23@11:41am–#Westport CT– #Fairfield CT– A car with three occupants on Greens Farm Road struck a police car. The car fled on I-95 before being abandoned there. Fairfield Police K-9 located the suspects on Valley Road (near Guyer Road) and they were taken into custody.
Fairfield News: Shots Fired
On 10/19/23, officers were called to the North Benson Road and Barlow Road area due to a report of gunshots. They found a vehicle with bullet holes in a nearby driveway. Fairfield Detectives determined the incident was related to a domestic relationship. The victim’s ex-boyfriend, Christopher Naber, was linked to the shooting. Naber had a prior domestic violence incident in Hamden one month before and a protective order against him. On the same day, search warrants were obtained for Naber and his property in Hamden, Connecticut. With assistance from multiple police departments and units, Naber was arrested at 42 Fairview Avenue, Hamden. During the search, firearms, ammunition, drugs, and evidence linking Naber to the shooting were found. Naber was charged with Violation of a Protective Order, firearm, and drug offenses and held on a $1,000,000 bond. On 10/20/23, an arrest warrant was obtained for Naber on additional charges with a bond set at $250,000. The Fairfield Police Department acknowledged assistance from several other agencies in the investigation.
