Westport Volunteer EMS Offers Free Hands-Only CPR Classes

Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service (WVEMS) announces it will be offering free Hands-Only CPR training sessions for the general public. Students will learn how to perform hands-only CPR (no mouth-to-mouth) for an adult who does not show signs of life, how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and how to assist an adult who is choking and cannot breathe. Hands-Only CPR takes only 30 minutes to learn; it is NOT a certification-level class. Classes will take place on Friday January 3, 2014, at 6:30PM and 7:00PM, in the training classroom of the Westport Police/EMS Headquarters building, located at 50 Jesup Road. Participants need to attend only one 30-minute session, at the time of their choosing. Participants should use the Training Division entrance on the west side of the building (facing the Library). Please do not park in spaces designated for the Police Department.   Pre-registration is required in order to ensure a proper ratio of instructors to students. Sign up by sending an e-mail to cpr@westportems.org, or call our CPR Hotline @ (203) 341-6030. Please indicate the date and time that you want to attend. Redding Youth Donates Teddy Bears to BFD to Help Reassure Sick Children

#Bridgeport, CT – Dec. 24, 2013 – Ten-year-old Vladimir Romano has a simple explanation for why he sells  lemonade and buys teddy bears to give to fire departments for children. “I don’t want people to be more scared than I was,” he said in a visit to Bridgeport Fire Headquarters this morning. Vladimir was 3-years-old when he spiked a 105 degree temperature and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was scared. He remembers a firefighter putting a stuffed bear on his chest and it made him feel better. Bridgeport Homicide Arrest

Detective Paul Ortiz obtained an arrest warrant his morning for Dominick Gonzalez, Park Avenue Bridgeport charging him with Felony Murder, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st as a result of an investigation that has been ongoing in response to the homicide of Dewayne Gardner on 12/16/2013. Gardner was found shot multiple times in his vehicle on Poplar Street during the early morning hours of 12/16/2013. Perez was apprehended in Guilford, Ct. Hel be held on 1.5 million dollar bond. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Lt. Lamaine and additional arrests are anticipated. The homicide of Garner was record as the City’s 13thof the year.

$5,000 tip at Seagrape in Fairfield

#Fairfield CT--The waitstaff at the Seagrape at 1144 Reef Road today received a $5,000 tip on a $122 bill today.  In a trend that has been sweeping the nation called Tips for Jesus.  In the last few weeks similar tips have showed up in restaurants from coast to coast and even in Mexico, with tips of as much as $10,000 — all charged to American Express as seen in this receipt.  Tips for Jesus is an Instagram account with about 54,000 followers.  I'm sure there few there are a few more followers in Fairfield this week!
