Norwalk News: Child Abuse Arrest

#Norwalk Connecticut--On July 21, 2016, the Norwalk Department of Police Service arrested Pedro Salinas at theNorwalk Courthouse where he was appearing on another criminal matter. The Special Victims Unit began an investigation on May 26, 2016 after receiving a report of child abuse from the Department of Children and Families. The investigation revealed that a two-year-old female had been brought to the Norwalk Hospital after suffering what was believed to be medical  condition. The child was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital due to the seriousness of the child’s condition. SVU Detectives learned that the child had been living with family at Salinas’s residence and that Salinas had assaulted the child causing serious injuries. Waterbury News: Now An Untimely Death Investigation of Naugatuck Man

Waterbury, CT. (July 20, 2016): State Police Detectives from Western District Major Crime (WDMC) are investigating an untimely death in the Route 8 exit 29 commuter lot in Waterbury. On July 20, 2016 at approximately 9:15 a.m., troopers from Troop A-Southbury responded to the Route 8 exit 29 commuter lot for the report of an unconscious male in a motor vehicle. Upon arrival troopers located the unconscious male alone in the vehicle. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. State Police Detectives from Western District Major Crime responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Aquarion Water Company Urges Water Conservation

#BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – July 14, 2016 – With a lack of significant rainfall, and as a result of the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s advisory for water conservation, Aquarion Water Company is asking its customers to conserve water and reduce non-essential outdoor water use. Threats To Police

On July 8, 2016, the Norwalk Department of Police Service Detective Bureau received information about threatening social media messaging advocating violence against police officers. Detectives located the posts on Facebook and identified the author as Kurt Vanzuuk. The posts indicated that the Dallas shooter was a hero and called for police officers to be killed. Detectives obtained a warrant for Vanzuuk’s arrest on July 9, 2016 and he was subsequently taken into custody.
