General Electric and the Town of Fairfield

From the Desk of First Selectman Tetreau   (Press Release) Let me first say that on behalf of the Town, I am in active communication with both GE and the Governor’s office and have been ever since GE’s announcement that it is considering leaving the State. Here is what I have accomplished so far: I have been able to keep the communication flowing between GE and the State while the evaluation is proceeding. There was a lot of emotion initially. Governor Boasts Drop In Unemployment

Office of the Governor press release:  #HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following statements in response to the Connecticut Department of Labor’s “Labor Situation” report for August 2015, which showed several thousand jobs created last month.   The monthly report indicates that:   Connecticut saw a net increase of 3,200 new jobs during the month.  Though numbers may face adjustment next month,this represents the best year-over-year August job growth in the last ten years.  The 2015 July-August jobs period, seasonally adjusted, has proven to deliver the second most movement in the last decade.   The unemployment rate in the state dropped one-tenth of a percent to 5.3% (the national rate is…

Milford News: Silver Sands Meeting

The DEEP meeting with citizens concerning the design for Silver Sands State Park is at Milford City Hall on Thursday, September 24th at 6:30 PM.  We are expecting a large number of citizens to attend and voice their concerns towards a plan from which local residents have been shut out.  No other state park rests in the middle of a densely populated community such as ours, and people are going to be bringing their questions.  I hope you can attend.   This report made possible by:

Video: Bridgeport News: 3 Sent To Hospital After Shooting Outside Pleasant Moments

UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Press Release: Early this morning, the Bridgeport Police Department responded to a non-fatal shooting incident in which two people were shot, and one injured. At 2:05 a.m., police officers responded to a call about an alleged shooting incident in the area of William St. & Crescent Ave. Upon arrival, police officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and another victim who suffered non-weapon induced injuries to the head. The first victim, a 25 year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot. He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he is currently in stable condition. Bridgeport News: Structure Fire

On September 9, 2015 at 6:43 a.m., firefighters responded to a call regarding smoke in the area of Berkshire Ave. and Pembroke St.  At the scene, firefighters found a multi-family home at 511 Berkshire Ave. The rear of the building had heavy fire on all three floors. Four civilians exited the building shortly after firefighters arrived. Firefighters then performed a search of the building and found no one inside. Firefighters fought the fire for a time until crews had to be pulled out for an exterior operation.  Once the fire was under control, firefighters returned to the inside of the building to extinguish the remaining fire. More than 30 firefighters were dispatched to tackle the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries…
