Norwalk News: Person Shot

#Norwalk Police Update:  On May 18, 2017 at 11:50 PM, the Norwalk Police Department responded to multiple calls of shots fired in the area of 33 Orchard Street. A short time later, Norwalk Hospital reported that a male victim arrived at the hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Norwalk Detectives responded to the scene and are actively investigating. Their preliminary investigation has revealed that the shooting was not random and that the victim was likely targeted, however he remains uncooperative. Norwalk News: Death Investigation Arrest

On August 16, 2016, the Norwalk Police Department responded to an unresponsive male medical aid call at 146 Silvermine Avenue, the Connecticut Department of Developmental Service Lower Fairfield Center. Thomas Lanza, a fifty- year-old resident of the facility was transported to the Norwalk Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is responsible for the planning, development and administration of complete, comprehensive and integrated statewide services for persons with intellectual disabilities. Norwalk Police Detective Dominick Cisero assumed the death investigation. After a lengthy investigation including multiple search warrants and employee interviews it was determined, that Jamal Lee was the person responsible for Thomas Lanza’s care on August 16, 2016. Norwalk News: Theft Arrest

During February 2017, Norwalk Detectives received an employee theft complaint from Norwalk Transit District. The investigation determined that Otis Weeks, a Norwalk Transit District employee, had stolen over $20,000 from August 2016 thru February 2017. Weeks manipulated the payroll, adding hours to certain employee’s pay, which generated a separate paycheck. Weeks then stole these checks, forging the employee’s signatures in order to deposit them. Weeks was arrested by Norwalk Detectives after turning himself in this morning. Detective Dominick Cisero was the lead investigator. Norwalk News: Death Investigation

#Norwalk CT--On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:28 am, Patrol Officers responded to 505 Westport Avenue Unit 17 for an assault. Arriving officers found the victim deceased within the residence. Officers detained Paul Bjerke, who was located inside the residence. The Norwalk Detective Bureau is investigating the incident with the assistance of the Norwalk Crime Scene Unit. Detectives subsequently arrested Bjerke for his role in the death of the victim. Norwalk News: Child Endangerment Arrest

#Norwalk CT--On April 18, 2017 at 8:39 PM, Officer Michael Sellas was patrolling Chestnut Street and observed suspicious activity in the area of 57. As he approached the area in his police car, he observed a male in a white Toyota speaking to a juvenile. As the officer got closer, the male quickly drove away. The officer spoke with the juvenile who stated that the male had asked her to get into the car. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the male operator as Angel Jiminez-Barzallo. The Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and learned that Jiminez-Barzallo had grabbed the juvenile’s wrist and hand during this encounter and had only let go when he saw the police car. Westport News: Breach Of Peace After Spraying Up Restaurant

Here are the details on a story we were first to tell you last week: #Westport CT--On 04/20/2017 at approximately 1:00pm, Westport Officers were dispatched to 265 Riverside Avenue, Juniors, on a report of a man who entered the restaurant and caused a disturbance. The business owner stated that a man entered the restaurant and was attempting to sell a cleaning product. The male suspect was later identified as Michael Hicks. The owner stated Hicks was moving around the restaurant spraying the cleaning product on multiple surfaces including the grill area. Norwalk News: Triple Shooting

Norwalk Detectives are investigating a triple shooting that occurred April 13, 2017 at 10:40 p.m. on Chapel Street. Initially officers responded to a report of shots fired on Chapel Street and located a crime scene but no victims. The Norwalk Hospital then reported two male victims had arrived by private vehicle. A short time later, a third male victim arrived at the Norwalk Hospital. All three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
