Norwalk Shooting Suspect Captured In Bridgeport After Pursuit

Norwalk Police UPDATE:  At approximately 10:00 a.m officers were called to Roodner Court at 261 Ely Avenue for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found one victim, who was brought to the hospital. We are currently working with other law enforcement agencies as this is an active investigation. #Norwalk CT--The Detective Bureau is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a burglary that burglary occurred on June 2, 2020 at approximately 5:00a.m at the Extended Stay Hotel at 400 Main Ave. Cash was stolen from the register, and a purse and computer were stolen from a guests’ room. #Norwalk CT-- On June 4, 2020, Nathan Hale Middle School and West Rocks Middle School will be hosting drive-thru moving up ceremonies. NMHS will be from 1500-1930 and WRMS will be from 1500-1900. This will cause an increase of vehicles in the vicinity of both schools (Strawberry Hill and West Rocks Road) which will cause traffic delays. Norwalk News: Suspicious Vehicle Nets Various Arrests

#Norwalk CT--On May 27, 2020 at around 5:30pm an officer on patrol encountered a suspicious vehicle in the Wal Mart parking lot on Connecticut Avenue. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and began speaking with the vehicles occupants. One of the occupants retrieved a bag of marijuana and gave it to the officer, and told the officer there were firearms in the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and recovered 131 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, a scale, as well as a rifle, a handgun, three foot-long machetes, and an axe. Norwalk News: Shots Fired

#Norwalk CT--On May 24 at around 9:40 p.m patrol officers were dispatched to Garner Street for a report of shots fired. Officers were given the description of a man firing a handgun in the air. When officers arrived on scene they located an individual matching the description of the suspect. The suspect, Timothy Simmons Jr, was detained and officers located a handgun in his pocket. After officers investigated they located shell casings on scene. This appears to be an isolated incident and no one was injured. #Norwalk CT--Norwalk Police Officers, the Norwalk PBA, and the Norwalk Police union have sponsored a donation of a truck of food. On Friday, May 22, 2020 at 8:30 am St Philips church will be running a food drive, and officers will be there to unload the delivery. This is a food bank to support families that have been impacted by COVID 19. Food will be distributed at the church this Friday at 8:30. This program is run on donations, and Lieutenant Brian Cunningham has organized donations from members of the Norwalk Police Department, the Norwalk PBA, and the Norwalk Police Union to sponsor a truckload of food.
