Fairfield News: Smoke Causes Evacuation of Ludlowe HS

10:28am--#Fairfield CT--Smoke from a faulty air exchanger on the roof caused smoke to enter the music room area of Ludlowe High School prompting the evacuation of the school.  The students were brought over to Ludlowe Middle School where they stayed warm in the gym while firefighters investigated the cause of the smoke.  The student were allowed back into the high school in about an hour to resume exams.  Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Title was immediately on scene and coordinated efforts.  School exams are taking place this week and school was suppose to dismiss at 12pm but will now dismiss at 1:30pm.  Meals not normally provided on half days was provided since the day was extended.

Fairfield News: Update on UI’s Tree Trimming Program

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that as part of the state mandated Enhanced Tree Trimming program implemented by The United Illuminating Company (UI) in Fairfield and other Connecticut towns, a pilot program has been launched in sections of Greenfield Hill and Mill Plain. This pilot program will allow the public to better understand how this program will be implemented in Fairfield and how it will affect the Town. Bridgeport Police Make Arrest in December Fatal Hit-and-Run

#Bridgeport, Conn. (Jan. 14, 2015) – A 46-year-old city woman was arrested today in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Dec. 4, 2014. Detectives arrested Patricia Daniels, 46, of Palisade Avenue in Bridgeport, on charges of second-degree manslaughter, risk of injury to a minor and evading responsibility. Her bond was set at $150,000. The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Boston Avenue. The victim, Evelyn Agyei, 51, was driving with her 11-year-old son in the back seat of a Subaru Outback when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Agyei died from her injuries.
