Arrest made on Fairfield Hazmat Case
On Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 at 4:20 pm, Fairfield Police and Fire Department personnel responded to 1625 Bronson Road, a private residence for a report of a burglary and possible hazardous materials at that location. Personnel secured the scene and requested the assistance from Federal, State and local agencies. It was determined by Connecticut State Police and CT D.E.E.P that explosive and flammable materials found in the home needed to be removed for public safety. Tree crash, power out
3:46pm--#Bridgeport CT--A tree gave way to the heavy winds today crashing onto a welding truck, taking out three utility poles on Sherwood Avenue. Power is out in the lower Wood Avenue area near the fire station. Firefighters were on scene at the time conducting inspection when the crashed occurred. The owner of the welding truck just told the firefighters that maybe he should move his truck when it occurred. The call came in first as motor vehicle accident with entrapment, then children trapped under the tree so firefighters ran from the fire station around the block to the scene. 2:10am--#Fairfield CT #Bridgeport CT--A manhunt after a crash in the North Avenue/Cartright Street area in the Rooster River area. Car is reported to be rolled over after a brief Fairfield Police pursuit. Police from both towns in the area.
Deliveryman robbed, cops nab suspects
9:11pm--#Bridgeport CT--A deliveryman was robbed of cash and his car. Police on routine quickly located the car abandoned behind Greene Homes on Highland Avenue. K-9 was sent and tracked the suspects to building four. Two in custody!

Administration officials now live in fear of a 19th-century law that could get them fired, penalized or even imprisoned if they make the wrong choices while the government is shut down. Vacant Houses Get a Facelift
#Bridgeport, CT – Oct 5, 2013 – As part of a larger effort to address quality-of-life issues, the City has launched a decorative board-up program for vacant houses. “Our goal, first and foremost, is to see these homes purchased, renovated and to see families move in as part of the fabric of Bridgeport,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “But this program, I believe, is an important interim step.” Similar programs have been popular in the Midwest as a way to spruce up the appearance of vacant buildings and the concept recently has gained traction nationwide.
