UB evacuated–Bomb squad called

6:42pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters on scene at 244 University Boulevard calling in the bomb squad, not a lot of details.  Reports of the University of Bridgeport being evacuated.   UPDATE--False alarm, all clear. Police press release:  The Bridgeport police and fire departments did respond to the University of Bridgeport on a report of a suspicious item. It was found inside office space rented by a radio station on university property. I believe the call letters are WPKN. Authorities responded and the building was evacuated with the assistance of UB security personnel. The immediate area, not the UB campus, was evacuated as a precaution. Police Identify Shooting Victim

(Bridgeport, CT – April 8, 2013) – Police Monday released the identity of a man shot in the leg over the weekend. The victim was identified as Daquan Brown, 19, of Seaview Avenue. Police Officer Esther Hailey was dispatched at 2:36 a.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of Park Avenue and found Brown there. He was shot in the left leg. He told Hailey that he was walking with his brother in the area of Iranistan Avenue and Laurel Avenue when they encountered a male arguing with several people.
