Westport Energy Assistance

Westport, CT - Human Services Director Elaine Daignault reminds residents that income-eligible households can apply for assistance with their home heating costs through one or more of the energy assistance programs administered by The Department of Human Services (DHS). Contactless applications for the 2020-2021 heating season through April 30 are available now. “Qualifying residents are encouraged to complete the application process early in the season to ensure that they maximize the benefits of this essential program,” said Daignault. DHS Finance Manager Susan Stefenson oversees the means-tested program. On September 1, 2020 Norwalk Police were called to Flax Hill Park for an armed robbery. The victim anda friend were in Flax Hill Park when they were approached by four individuals who robbed them atgunpoint. A physical altercation occurred between the victims and the suspect. During this, the victimwas struck in the head with a firearm and a chain valued at $800 was pulled off the victim’s neck. Thevictim sustained minor injuries during the incident.During the investigation Detectives identified Carlye Moss as the suspect. An arrest warrant was appliedfor and granted. Police UPDATE: On October 14, 2020 at approximately 4:55 pm Bridgeport Patrol Officers, Bridgeport Firefighters and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the scene of a fatal crash at the intersection of Park Avenue and Thorme Street. This was a two car motor vehicle crash involving a dark blue 2008 Acura TI bearing CT registration AU72393 operated by Rolando Solano DOB 09/12/2001 of Bridgeport CT and a white 2015 Lexus ES 350 bearing CT registration AERO-5 operated by Luis Kugell DOB 05/09/1939 of Prospect CT.
