Bridgeport News: City Officials Ready If OD Mass Casualty’s Happens

#Bridgeport CT-- Mayor Ganim, Director of Emergency Management Scott Appleby and Fire Chief Thode said they are ready if an overdose mass casualty happened in Bridgeport like it did in New Haven last week. Over 100 people required medical treatment after the K-2 synthetic marijuana at the New Haven Green. Chief Thode said city firefighters responded to over 10,000 medical calls and said: “all of our trucks are equipped with defibrillators and Narcan” (which counteracts opioid overdoses). Bridgeport News: Jeep Hits Hydrant

11:11pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A jeep hit a hydrant in the 400 block of Westfield Avenue.  It must have snapped at the base a few feet below.  The firefighters are attempting to shut the water off feeding the hydrant from the street. In our area, we have what is known as "dry hydrants".  That is after firefighters attach their hoses to a hydrant they have to turn the water on with a wrench on the hydrant that allows the flow of water.  This is so the hydrants don't freeze in cold weather.  It's also why you don't see water spraying high in the air if a vehicle hits it like you see on TV in warmer areas.  Now ya know!   Thanks,…
