8:26pm--#Fairfield Connecticut--Another tree has come down, this time at Range and Flintlock Road. When I was at the incident at High and Jennings Road that trapped three in a car Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola told me it was the hot dry weather that is causing this to happen and on weak and damaged trees. 7:11pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- 3 residents from Sport Hill Road Parkway in Easton had quite the surprise when the stopped at a stop sign at High Street and Jennings Road and a very large tree limb crashed onto their car. The limb took down a power line from a house trapping them inside. Firefighters are stationed a half block away and was on the scene right away. Assistant Fire Chief told me that one of the firefighters is an electrician and was able to determine that the new power line was was intact and insulated and it was safe to remove the occupants. With the summer months upon us, Energize Connecticut partners are asking customers to “Wait ‘til 8” to help decrease energy consumption and demand during peak periods, which are weekdays from noon to 8 p.m. Extreme peak demands occur only 100 hours each year, or about 1 percent of the time, between late May and early September during hot, humid weather. To accommodate demand, additional power plants are on stand-by ready to operate during these hours. On July 23, 2016 at 12:43 am, the Norwalk Police Department responded to the area of 68 Winfield Street for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers located numerous people in the area due to a house party. Officers also located shell casings in front of 68 Winfield Street. A short time later Norwalk Hospital reported a male had arrived from Winfield Street suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. 2:01am--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- Tough night for women in Bridgeport tonight. A woman was shot on Howard Avenue earlier and now a report of woman hospitalized after being beaten with a broomstick and a bottle on Bond Street. This report is made possible by:
11:33pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--A police officer on patrol on Howard Avenue heard a shot fired in the 900 block of Howard Avenue. The officer saw a car attempting to leave at a high rate of speed and was able to pull him over and take him in to custody. Witnesses told me the woman was shot in a backyard, possibly accidentally when the gun was dropped. Police quickly located a clip of 40mm caliber and a short time later retrieved the gun. I do not know where on her body the woman was shot or her condition.
