Malloy today announced that the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven – informally known as the Q Bridge – will be lit in red, white, and blue this weekend in observation of Independence Day. This will be the first time the recently renovated bridge will receive a full lighting, which will include the towers, anchor piers, and cable stays. 12:20am--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- A person showed up in a private vehicle at Bridgeport Hospital shot. Police canvassed Stratford and Hollister Avenue and located shell casings and a blood trail on Logan Street. There was no word on the victims injuries or condition. A police officer can be seen in the photo "taping off" Logan Street with crimes scene tape recycled from previous crimes scenes due to city budget cuts. The crime scene was large and he ran out of the recycled tape. Another officer responded to the scene to tape off the Connecticut Avenue side. The following is a statement by Mary Joe Ganim regarding intending municipal employee layoffs in the city of Bridgeport. "As we end fiscal year 2016 and begin a new fiscal year, my administration has been unable to come to an accommodation with the various city employee labor unions that would get us to a figure of $4,000,000 in savings that is required in order to balance the budget for the coming fiscal year. Our administration has been working very hard for months in cooperation with labor unions trying to close the budget gap through some modest concessions such as wage freezes and furlough days.
