Hartford Gets Shot Spotter, NOT Bridgeport
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that an expansion of the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system in Hartford will become operational by today as a result of a $300,000 state grant. The technology detects and conveys the location of gunfire or other weapon fire using mounted audio sensors. Those sensors triangulate signals and identify the point of origin of a gunshot, immediately communicating that information to law enforcement. The expansion of the technology allows the city increase the technology's coverage to 11.25 square miles, up from just 3 miles. Governor Bans Travel To North Carolina

Malloy today announced that he has signed an executive order banning state-funded travel to North Carolina in response to its recently adopted HB2 legislation, which discriminates against members of the LGBT community. “When we see discrimination and injustice, we have to act. This law is not just wrong, it poses a public safety risk to Connecticut residents traveling through North Carolina. High Speed Chase
12:25am--UPDATE: Pursuit entered I-95 and was terminated at exit 42. 12:19am--#cttraffic---A high speed chase with State Police on Route 8 to the valley turned around and went back south. The chase is now on the Merritt Parkway northbound near Stratford. Speeds exceeding 100mph according to radio reports.

Fairfield News: Up A Creek With No Paddle
5:38pm--#Fairfield Connecticut--An overturned canoe was found but no paddle in Pine Creek near the 1400 block of Fairfield Beach Road. Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola said there are no over due boaters and they suspect the high winds yesterday blew the canoe from where it was kept. Just before they left the scene the did find an address in Westport and they are having Westport Police locate the owners. The red line in the picture is the overturned canoe. No paddles, personal flotation devices or any other items were found with or near the boat.
