Bridgeport News: Police Captain to Head Violent Crime Reduction Task Force

Mayor Joe Ganim  announced the formation of a new violent crime reduction task force in the Bridgeport Police Department aimed at focusing efforts of the uniformed patrol division and the detective bureau to focus efforts on preventing incidents in violent crime hot spots in the city.  The new task force will be headed by veteran Bridgeport police Captain Armando J. 05:59am--#Fairfield CT--The Fairfield Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a single car into a tree on Tunxis Hill Cutoff near Fieldcrest Dr. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, they found a 1999 Honda Civic  after striking a large tree and the vehicle sustained heavy front end damage as a result. A only occupant/driver identified as Shawn Connery Charles (DOB 08/30/1990)of 145 Cowles St, Bridgeport was found ejected from the front seat and was found face up between the front and rear seats in a semi-responsive condition. Charles’ was transported by AMR Ambulance to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. The crash is currently under investigation by the crash investigation unit.
