#Bridgeport CT--On August 1, 2015, Bridgeport and Fairfield PD responded to a fight and drowning at Chubby’s Bar and Restaurant at 3488 Fairfield Avenue. The victim was Wayne Bentley (2-26-73). On today’s date 1-12-16 an arrest warrant was secured and served, arresting Richard de Carvalho “Ricky D” (9-10-82). de Carvalho was charged with: Criminally Negligent Homicide in violation of Connecticut General Statute 53a-58 Assault 3rd in violation of Connecticut General Statute 53a-61 Breach of Peace 2nd degree in violation of Connecticut General Statute 53a-181. Bridgeport Receives New Driver Simulator For Police and Firefighters

When a police officer leaves the academy they continue to get training on everything except police driving refresher courses, that is until now.  The city of Bridgeport has invested in a simulator that will help assist both the police and fire department drive emergency vehicles in number of conditions, from rain to snow, drivers ignoring lights and sirens and kids running in front of their vehicle.  Other instruction included teaching firefighters to not only watch the road but also read the horizon for smoke in the distance,   In the last ten years across the country 434 police officer have been killed automotive accidents.  In 2013 and 2014 the city of Bridgeport have received over $800,000 in motor vehicle related…

Free Languages Classes Taught at the Fairfield Public Library

#Fairfield, CT--Learning a second language is not as difficult as many believe. The Fairfield Public Library has been offering refresher and intermediate Spanish classes on Saturdays at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road, for the past year. These classes will continue this spring from 10:30 to noon in the Rotary Room In addition, on Saturday, January 16 the Main Library will be hosting Intro to Three Romance Language classes.
