4:40pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters quick response time kept a fire from quickly spreading to the rest of the house at 148 Anson Street. The fire was on the third floor. Firefighters did a search and found no one inside the home. Firefighters had it quickly contained but hots spots in the insulation remained until the removed it from the home. The fire marshal was called to investigate.

2015 Back to School Program Barbara Butler, Director of the Westport Department of Human Services, announces the scheduling of the Town’s 2015 “Back to School Program” which will run from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7 at Town Hall. This program offers gift cards to income-eligible families who have children in the Westport schools. Families can then purchase new backpacks and school supplies together. The Salvation Army also provides a limited number of Payless gift cards so children can start the school year with a new pair of shoes. The Back to School program depends solely upon the generosity of community individuals and organizations.
