12:11pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police are investigating an armed robbery on North Avenue at Madison Avenue.  A black male and a Hispanic male robbed the victim taking their wallet with cash and their cellphone.  The suspects ran to Madison Avenue and fled in a car. 11:00pm--#Bridgeport CT--North Avenue is closed due to a 2 car crash on North Avenue near Lexington Avenue.  Firefighters were called for entrapment but that was not the case.  Two people were injured but the extent of their injuries are not know. 9:11pm--The  Kentucky Fried Chicken at 325 Boston Avenue was just robbed at gunpoint.  Police are looking for two black males, between the ages of 16 and 18 years of age Both were wearing mask and hoodies.  One wearing gray sweatpants.  Both were armed.  They were last seen running foot towards Concord Street.  Fowl play is suspected. Massive Fire in Bridgeport’s East Side

Firefighters in Bridgeport remain busy, this time with a massive fire at 193 Berkshire Avenue. Neighbors tell me the house is abandoned but the houses on both sides of it are not. Firefighters did have what they call exposure problems, that is the fire was posing a threat to the houses next to it. Neighbors told me how they appreciated the quick work by the firefighters to keep their homes safe and the fire contained to the one house. There were no reported injuries reported. The fire marshal was called to the scene and will begin his investigation to the cause of the fire.If I get any updates I'll let you know on DoingItLocal.com! GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR AT RISK YOUTH

Grant Will Address Behavioral Health Care for Young Adults   (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut will receive a $5 million grant to better engage and connect young adults ages 16 to 25 to behavioral health care. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded Connecticut the competitive five year CT STRONG (Seamless Transition and Recovery Opportunities through Network Growth) grant to serve youth who reside in New London, Milford or Middletown and who are at risk for or have behavioral health disorders. “These new resources will support young people living with behavioral health disorders, and help them learn to identify and appropriately cope with their issues,” said Governor Malloy. “Early intervention is critical; and…

Devon Rotary Delivers Dictionaries to Milford Third Graders

#MILFORD, CT – The Devon Rotary Club continued its annual tradition of helping make smarter students in Milford.  Devon Rotary Club members John Bergin, Scott Moulton, Dean Parrott, Ann Brignola, Greyson Schwing and Bob Morelli recently hand-delivered brand new dictionaries to third graders at Meadowside, Pumpkin Delight, and St Gabriel School Elementary schools. At Meadowside and Pumpkin Delight, Principals Gail Krois and Carrie Keramis joined in deliveries to each of the classrooms, sharing enthusiastic introductions along the way.
