28 Graduate from Bridgeport Police Academy

Twenty-eight recruits  graduated from the Bridgeport PoliceAcademy tonight.   “Thursday will be a special day,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “We’re welcoming 28 new police officers in five different cities and towns. Seven months ago, they started the academy as strangers and leave ready to start new careers keeping our kids and families safe – and as a family.” Seventeen of the new officers will serve the residents of Bridgeport and our visitors.  One each will serve in Fairfield and Greenwich. 2:26pm--Police were called to Mill Hill School for two middle eastern males in a white Cadillac Escalade who were asked to leave the school grounds but refused.  A short time later, prior to police's arrival they left the school grounds.  They were pulled over by police on the I-95 on ramp near Center Street.  Police are still investigating. CT--On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 the Westport Police Department swore in two new police officers. The ceremony took place in the classroom at police headquarters at 2:45 P.M. The hiring of both officers fills vacancies created by the two retirements since June 2014 and brings the department to full strength. The following individuals were sworn in as Westport Police Officers: Ruta Pratt, age 39, is a 1995 graduate of Naugatuck Valley Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to her hiring by the Westport Police Department, Ms. Pratt was a police officer with the Waterbury Police Department since October 2002, most recently at the rank of Detective. 12:19pm--#Fairfield CT--A homeowner on Morehouse Lane called the fire chief's office to inquire if a  fire marshal was investigating on their street, a woman in uniform was in the homeowner's yard taking measurements .  The chief's office said no and called police to investigate.  I called Lieutenant Jim Perez of the Fairfield Police Department for follow up.  Perez said scammers often will show up in fake uniforms to falsely gain the authority  confidence of homeowners. As Perez and I were talking on the phone it was discovered that the company called Vision Appraisal was legitimately in the area appraising homes.
