Westport Parenting Workshops Forming Now

Positive Directions and the Westport Human Services Department are teaming up to offer the award winning Creating Lasting Family Connections Program to elementary and middle school parents on Tuesdays or Thursdays beginning March 18 or March 20. Classes will be held at Positive Directions 420 Post Road West and Westport Town Hall. Many parents have discovered that their child’s transitions from grade school to middle school and beyond can be a challenging and sometimes traumatic event for both parent and child. Shoplifter Pulls a Knife

(Bridgeport, CT – March 5, 2014) – Police are investigating a shoplifting turned robbery that happened on Tuesday. Officer Pasquale Speranza responded to the Rite-Aid at 1060 E. Main St. just after 7 p.m. Speranza spoke with a store security officer, who stated that he observed on the store security system a woman in the makeup section tuck merchandise into her sleeve and attempt to leave the store. He confronted her at the exit and told her to hand over the merchandise. She refused and walked out of the store. When the employee again told her to return the merchandise, the woman pulled out a knife before leaving the area. The employee was not injured.

Man Faces Narcotics Charges After Motor Vehicle Stop

(Bridgeport, CT – March 5, 2014) – A city man faces narcotics and other charges following a motor vehicle stop Tuesday. Officer Joaquim DeBarros was dispatched to the 1100 block of Stratford Avenue on a report of suspicious activity just after 2 a.m. As he approached the vehicle in question, the driver quickly drove off. Police pulled him over several blocks away. In plain view, officers observed a small orange baggie that contained a brown leafy substance and observed a black electronic stun gun on the seat next to the driver. City Man Charged With Threatening, Assaulting Exotic Dancer

(Bridgeport, CT – March 5, 2014) – A disturbance call led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man. Officer Carla Remele was dispatched at about 4 a.m. Tuesday to Bond Street and observed a female outside bleeding from a large laceration on her arm and wearing only a bra and pink tights. She told police that she had argued with a man because she refused to have sex with him. She stated that he pushed her into something that cut her arm and that he threatened her with a gun.
