Bridgeport Road Closures

BRIDGEPORT, CT (September 12, 2013) – Route 127 – East Main Street, between I-95 at Ann Street and Route 130 – Stratford Avenue will be closed to traffic for approximately 12 days from Monday, Sept. 16 through Sept. 27.  Motorists will use Kossuth Street and Waterview Avenue to access points north of the closure including the I-95 southbound ramp.

The Steelpoint Infrastructure Improvements Project consists of the installation of new underground utilities, including electrical, water, gas, telecommunications, sanitary and storm sewers as well as widening of the roadways in order to support future development.   AT&T / R&D Construction will be performing underground utility work on lower East Main Street, (SR 127) from Stratford Avenue to Ann Street, a total of about 0.06 miles.

The detour is expected to begin on Monday, Sept. 16 and will run through Friday, Sept. 27. Motorists can expect a full, around-the-clock closure during that period. Signage will guide motorists through the detour route. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Drivers are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

Soldier Support Packages

Woods End Deli Adopts “Soldier Support Packages”

Michael and Carol Weinshel and Susan Spivack continue to support deployed troops. Since 2005, they have adopted over 30,000 troops…and currently are supporting another 3,000 soldiers who are serving in Afghanistan…the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division (Ft. Riley) , including the 1-6 Cavalry Squadron.

You, too, can help by contributing money for postage or bringing in much-needed treats and travel-size toiletries. The things we take for granted are the little things that seem to matter most to our deployed soldiers.

Feel free to drop off items at the Woods End Delicatessen, 900 Wood Avenue, Bridgeport, CT

(203-335-7827) from now through October 8. The Deli is open daily from 7-4 and 7-2 on Saturday (closed on Sunday).

Celebrate the collection on October 8th with Fred’s famous mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies … FREE … just for adding to the Soldier Support Packages.

For questions, contact Carol Weinshel at 203-372-6004 or mica3@sbcglobal.net. On behalf of our soldiers, we thank you for your support.
