Ringing iPhone stops New York Philharmonic

Tuesday night's New York Philharmonic performance of the Mahler Ninth was stopped dead by an unusual instrument--the iPhone. the offending phone owner was in the front rows of Avery Fisher Hall when his phone went off, just 13 bars before the last page of the score. Middletown School Responds to “Scream Rooms” Outrage

Students say they can hear classmates screaming. The day after parents of Farm Hill Elementary School students in Middletown expressed outraged about the way the school is dealing with misbehaving students, the school is making some changes. Parents who attended a board of education meeting on Tuesday night were upset about teachers and staff putting the children, including those with special needs, in what they called "scream rooms." Fairfield Police Chase Ends In Manhunt In Bridgeport

As Officer Sudora approached the vehicle, the operator fled on foot on Butler toward Fairfield Ave. Three black males bailed out of the vehicle and fled in different directions. Officer Sudora initiated a foot pursuit, as the suspect vehicle crashed into a parked car. Several Patrols (both Bridgeport and Fairfield) were in the area. Another Carbon Monoxide Scare In Bridgeport

Just before 1pm Monday afternoon fire department received a call for smoke at 300 Chestnut Street apartment complex.  Upon arrival they did not find smoke but residents complained of feeling ill.  Firefighters metered and found readings of 70 to 80 parts per million, anything above 10 is considered hazardous.  This affected 5 apartments, 3 of the families were home and checked out by American Medical Response EMTs and did not require and additional treatment.  The flue on the furnace had worked itself loose so each time the furnace ran it released carbon monoxide into the apartments.    The gas company arrived on scene and the furnace was repaired.  Fire officials remained on the scene until 3:00pm ventilating the apartments.

Burglaries In Oxford And Seymour Linked To Fairfield Man

Robert Magi, 20 is suspected of stealing so many items a court hearing scheduled for last week was delayed because authorities are still trying to contact all of his alleged victims. That is some 40 people, according to statements made Jan. 4 in Superior Court in Derby.  Magi, of Fairfield, faces 84 criminal charges after police said he committed a string of burglaries in Oxford and Seymour.  Read full story......

‘Secret letter’ on Fairfield Metro revenue stuns selectmen

FAIRFIELD -- The revelation that state officials have a letter falsely stating Fairfield boards knew about a change in the pact for the Fairfield Metro railroad station guaranteeing that commuter parking revenues would first reimburse the state's $19.4 million debt on the project, instead of the town, was met with "stunned silence," according to First Selectman Michael Tetreau.  Read full story......

Airbags were deployed which probably prevented injures, no one was hurt.  The pole owned by AT&T will need to be replaced as it was nearly snapped in two. 5:28pm--#Fairfield--#ctfire--Chimney fire at 90 Barlow Place. Fire department on the way. 2:31am--#cttraffic--Merritt Parkway northbound at exit 46 on ramp involving a State Trooper. Trooper taken to the hospital, striking vehicle given sobriety test. 3:29am--#Fairfield #cttraffic--Merritt Parkway southbound just prior to 42 ROLLOVER CAR ON FIRE ALL OCCUPANTS OUT OF THE CAR.

Fatal Construction Accident in Bridgeport

Just before 4pm Sunday afternoon firefighters were called to 156 Sunshine Circle for a man pinned between a building and the vehicle he was working with. Firefighters used air bags to reduce the pressure from the vehicle, stabilized the vehicle and freed the man. They were unable to get a pulse and he was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport in cardiac arrest.
