#Stratford CT-- In June 2023 Stratford Police Department received a complaint from an adult female alleging she was sexually assaulted by a known male. The female accused Roderick C Ricketts, 44 years old of Stratford, of inappropriately touching her in mid-June. After a thorough investigation into the allegations, an arrest warrant was applied for and granted for the following charges: Sexual Assault 4th Degree 53a-73a On July 20, 2023 Mr. Ricketts, turned himself in, was processed, posted his bond, then released with a court date set for 7-31-2023.

Bridgeport News: 8 Year-Old Hit In A Shootout

#Bridgeport CT--On Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 11:07 PM, the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a notification from ShotSpotter for the 300th block of Orchard Street. Bridgeport Police and AMR (Ambulance) were sent to the location. According to reports from the scene, two unidentified individuals were firing guns at each other, and unfortunately, an 8-year-old child was accidentally grazed by a bullet near their ear. The child was taken to the hospital, but the injury is not life-threatening. The Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau is currently investigating this incident.

#Norwalk CT-- On July 21, 2023, at 9:58 p.m. Norwalk Combined Dispatch received reports of an accident involving a car and a moped at the intersection of Maple Street and Van Buren Avenue. Norwalk Police Officers responded to the scene and located two vehicles, a moped and an Infiniti SUV. The operator of the moped was transported to Norwalk Hospital with significant injuries and was later pronounced deceased at Norwalk Hospital. The operator of the second vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) today applauded the announcement of a $3,000,000 state grant to remediate the vacant 4.9-acre, former Bullard Machine Tool Company site at 81 Black Rock Turnpike. This project will enable a transit-oriented development/mixed-use development that will include 240 residential units (including 20% affordable at 80% area median income), ancillary retail, co-working, and public amenity space. “Cleaning up this site and putting it to productive use is a win-win situation for Fairfield,” Sen. Hwang said. “This project is good for the environment, it will create jobs, and it will create new and affordable housing with an emphasis on transit-oriented development. On July 20, 2023, at approximately 8:05 pm a ShotSpotter activation occurred within the 500 block of Trumbull Avenue (9 rounds fired - BPD CFS 23-58860).    A short time later a 16-year-old Stratford teen presented at an area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  This is reported to be a non-life-threatening injury.  The victim was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.  The victim’s parent/guardian has been notified and responded to the hospital. No further information at this time.
