Norwalk News: Shooting Incident – South Main Street
#Norwalk CT-- On August 4, 2022, at 10:58 p.m., Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting that gunshots were heard in the area of South Main Street and Merritt Street. Responding officers located a crime scene in the area of 152 South Main Street. A short time later Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a call from Norwalk Hospital, which reported that male suffering from a gunshot wound had just arrived by private vehicle. The victim is a 36- year-old male who suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his legs. The Detective Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.This investigation is active at this time. Attorney General Tong Urges the Biden Administration to Provide More Time and Opportunity for Borrowers to Achieve Loan Forgiveness
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 20 states in urging the Biden Administration to extend and expand temporary changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program to provide borrowers with more opportunities to get closer to loan forgiveness faster. Under the PSLF Program, remaining balances on federal Direct Loans are forgiven after borrowers – dedicated public servants such as teachers, firefighters, nurses, police officers – make 120 qualifying payments while working full-time for a qualifying employer. However, due to the PSLF Program’s complexity and poor management, millions of public service workers have been unable to access forgiveness, and the program’s denial rates have been as high as 99 percent. Bridgeport News: Possible Kidnapping
Police UPDATE: Last night at approximately 2045hrs a Bridgeport Police Officer was flagged down in the area of Park Ave and John St. The party indicated seeing a street fight at the corners of Fairfield Ave and Park Ave. A call was received into the Bridgeport ECC regarding a party that witnessed a female being pulled into a vehicle. Bridgeport Police were dispatched to the area and based upon preliminary reports it appears that the incident was a street fight amongst known parties with parties fleeing the area. Bridgeport PD cannot corroborate a kidnapping and there have been no notifications of any missing persons or an abduction. BPD has been in contact with several parties involved in the incident.
