Westport Storm Update
Westport, CT – Town administration has issued the following updates and progress report: The percentage of Eversource customers currently without power is 85%. Eversource has deployed its make safe crew as of 6am this morning, so progress is expected on blocked roadways. DPW has initiated the clean-up of trees and debris and many previously impassable roads are now clear. Emergency access is prioritized. Police are aware of the signal light outages at high traffic intersections and are making efforts to monitor them as power continues to be restored. Temporary signage and other warning devices have been deployed as equipment inventory allows in the areas determined to be of greatest need. National Guard In Easton
Tom Sherwood of Sherwood Farms at 355 Sport Hill Road in Easton shared this photo the National Guard parked across the street from his farm. Stratford News: Larceny-Risk of Injury to a Minor
#Stratford CT--On 08-07-2020 Nathaniel Allen age 20 of Stratford was arrested along with two juveniles for attempting to break into cars and stealing two bicycles from the Johnson Avenue area of town. Two of the group fled on the stolen bicycles but were apprehended by Officers a short distance away. Allen was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor (2 counts), Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree and Larceny in the Sixth Degree. He was held on a $5000 dollar bond and is scheduled to appear in court on 08-28-2020. The two juveniles were charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree and Larceny in the Sixth Degree. Tax Fraud Scam/Warning
Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong and Department of Revenue Services Acting Commissioner John Biello are warning Connecticut residents to be wary of mailings that claim to be warrants collecting unpaid tax debt. The letters received by Connecticut businesses were not sent by or on behalf of the Department of Revenue Services, but by a private company selling tax settlement services. The letters claim to issue a warrant against the companies for failing to pay taxes and instruct the recipients to pay a certain amount in full or call a phone number to avoid action. “These attempts to cheat Connecticut’s business owners out of their hard-earned money are nothing short of egregious,” said Attorney General Tong. “Our office will continue to fight these…
