Bridgeport News: Aquarion To Start Water Main Cleaning

#BRIDGEPORT, CONN. – June 5, 2020 – Aquarion Water Company today announced the launch of a water main cleaning project in Bridgeport.  Scheduled to begin Sunday, June 7, 2020, the project is expected to be completed on Sunday, August 30, 2020.   The water main cleaning project is being undertaken to ensure that Bridgeport’s customers continue to receive the highest quality water. The project will last approximately three months.  During that time, customers may notice some discoloration in their water when crews are working in their area. This discoloration results from the temporary disturbance of the water flow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains.  Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking. …

Participating students will be chauffeured by their parents/guardians from Long Lots School and proceed in waves northbound on Hyde Lane, eastbound on Long Lots Road and northbound on North Avenue to Bedford Middle School. HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the State of Connecticut is partnering with philanthropic organizations in an effort to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable residents in the state who are most directly impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency and are otherwise ineligible from receiving assistance through federal pandemic relief programs, including those from within the undocumented community.   The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was created at the outbreak of the pandemic to provide emergency assistance to those who have been impacted, excludes relief to any residents who are undocumented and any U.S. citizen who files taxes with an undocumented spouse or partner. Westport Fire Department UPDATE: Westport Fire, EMS, and CT State Police were requested to respond to a reported motor vehicle crash with a report of a person trapped on the Merritt Parkway. The first arriving fire unit reported a single vehicle on its roof in the left lane just south of exit 42. Fire personnel checked the vehicle and confirmed that a single occupant was trapped in the vehicle. A second occupant was able to climb out of the vehicle prior to units arriving. Westport Fire deployed a protective hose line and began to setup for extrication. Fire units assessed the patient while access to the vehicle was made. 2020-06-07@6:30am--#Bridgeport CT--The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received the report of a Motor Vehicle vs Motor Vehicle crash at the intersection of Boston Avenue and North Summerfield Avenue. The operator of a 2007 Honda Civic, identified as Alex Rivera Jr of Milford was traveling eastbound on Boston Avenue approaching the intersection with North Summerfield. Rivera swerved for an unknown reason into the westbound lane. As Rivera swerved into oncoming traffic a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Leonardo Jimenez  of Stratford was traveling westbound on Boston Avenue approaching North Summerfield. Jimenez attempted to swerve to the left but was unable to avoid collision with Rivera's vehicle.
