[SlideDeck id='494' width='100%' height='400px'] 2:09pm--#Bridgeport--Report of a bicyclist struck by a car at Bostwick and Railroad Avenue. 1:53pm--Norwalk--Police on scene reporting an attic fire at 55 Soundview Avenue.  Fire department arrived and requested additional personnel and EMTs to the scene although no injuries were reported.  Fire department had the bulk of the fire knocked down by 2:05pm and checked to see if the fire had extended  into the attic.  Fire inspector requested to the scene at 2:08pm. 2:12am--#Stratford-- Report of a motorcyle accident at Center and Main Street. Bridgeport Police Officer & his canine injured-struck by hit and run driver

An officer while making a domestic arrest on Seaview Avenueby Ogden Street Extended.   I just spoke with Mayor Finch's Press Secretary Elaine Ficcarra and she told me the officer was Lt. Kevin Gilleran and his dog was Titus.  Gilleran was brushed by the car which struck his cruiser making it unsafe to drive.  He and another officer rushed Titus to The Shoreline Animal Emergency Clinic in Shelton.  The dog is in stable condition.  Lt. Gilleran may have some bumps and bruises but should be fine, care for his dog was his top priority.   The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, possibly to I-95.  Police are looking for a black or blue car with left side damage, I'm told…

Oh Deer! A deer in the seal pool at the Maritime Aquarium

A deer entered the outdoor portion of the seal exhibit in Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium, apparently entering from the Norwalk River around 1:45 on Tuesday.  It took the staff about a half  hour to persuade the deer to use a ramp.  None of the seals or deer were injured in the ordeal.   There was no extra charge to the visitors at the aquarium for the show!  Click here or the photo to see the video.

Fire at strip mall in Milford with video

[caption id="attachment_3221" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Special Thanks to Stratford Fire for this Photo"][/caption] A fire that started around 8pm is now under investigation after a large blaze at 759 Boston Post Road near North Street.  The strip mall houses Vinny's Adults Only Video Shop, Sante's Barber Shop and  Looks Hair Salon.  Firefighting crews from various towns provided back up coverage/mutual aid to Milford including the Bridgeport Fire Department.  The blaze was contained by 10pm and Milford Fire Department has begun their investigation.   [caption id="attachment_3213" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Special Thanks to Joe Cataldo for this photo"][/caption]

Bridgeport-Household Hazardous Waste Day

The City’s Public Facilities Department will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Blackham School, 425 Thorme St. The event is free and is open to any Bridgeport resident who would like to dispose of electronics and household hazardous waste in a safe and environmentally sound way. “Our Household Hazardous Waste Day is an excellent way for our residents to clean out their garages, basements and storage areas of dangerous chemicals or electronic waste and be kind to the environment in doing so,” said Mayor Bill Finch.
