Yesterday members of the Fairfield Police Department responded to a 911 call and found a violent situation occurring at a residence in town. As a result of the calls to 911, Officer Sean Fenton responded to the violent situation and fatally shot theFairfield Officer Sean Fenton offender. Officer Sean Fenton is a Veteran Officer who has served the community of Fairfield with distinction since May of 1990.

Officer Fenton’s quick action in responding to this incident prevented further serious injury to family members. Per policy he has been temporarily reassigned from his patrol activities. Our Detective Bureau is working with the Ct State Police and the State’s Attorney’s Office from the Stamford/Norwalk district. Ct General statute requires that any police shooting resulting in death requires the assignment of a State’s Att. From outside the geographical area to oversee the investigation with the assistance of the CSP Major Crime Squad, as it relates to the shooting.

The Fairfield Police Department is assisting in facilitating in this process to ensure full transparency. As this investigation continues, we, the Fairfield Police Department, join the Fairfield Community in praying for the full recovering of several family members who are suffering from significant injuries. We also join and commit to working to understand and make sense of this tragic situation that we responded to.
