On January 4, 2019 at approximately 10:56 am, Bridgeport Patrol Officers responded to the scene of a serious accident on Boston Avenue; just west of its intersection with Kent Avenue. A Bridgeport man was walking across Boston Avenue when he was struck by a Black 2 door Mercedes SLK230 vehicle.  Witnesses report the operator of the Mercedes fled the scene, traveling at a high rate of speed, westbound on Boston Avenue. Emergency personnel arrived, provided medical attention, and transported the male victim to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died.  Bridgeport Police are in the process of notifying next of kin. 10:18pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called to a fire at 230 Dewey Street to battle a fire on the second floor and attic. The firefighters had the fire under control within a half hour. The health department was also called to the scene. 10:57am--#Bridgeport CT-- Witnesses told me that a pedestrian attempted to cross Boston Avenue at Kent Avenue. They said car in the right lane stopped and let the pedestrian cross and that a car behind him allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed swerved around the stopped car and hit the pedestrian in the left lane. They said the driver in a small black car fled down Kent Avenue, the vehicle had heavy front end damage. Police Chief AJ Perez confirmed the pedestrian died of his injuries.
