Fairfield Police UPDATE: On 07/17/2019 at approximately 5:16pm Fairfield Emergency Communications received a report of a large tree limb landing on a vehicle injuring the driver in front of 3595 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Officers responded to find Jarrod Marotto, DOB 08/26/1997 of Southington, unconscious in the driver seat. Jarrod was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Further investigation revealed that Jarrod was driving southbound on Park Avenue when a large limb from a Cottonwood tree was struck by lightning and fell striking the vehicle and Jarrod on the driver side. Jarrod was the only occupant in the vehicle. This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.

2019-07-17 @ 5:18pm– Fairfield CT– Firefighters on scene of a car with live electrical lines on a car with a person unconscious inside on Park Avenue near Wilson Street.  UI did not arrive on scene until 6:10pm to turn the power off.  There was nothing firefighters could do until power was turned off.
