Bridgeport News: Seaside Water Rescue

2022-08-18@ 7:57pm--#Bridgeport CT--Bridgeport ECC received a 911 call regarding a preliminary report of a person in the water near the Seaside Park Bathhouse possibly drowning and screaming for help. Bridgeport Fire & Police Marine Units along with AMR and other BFD and BPD units were dispatched. Sergeant Neary And Officer Goncalves arrived on-scene first.  Sergeant Neary was assigned as the Parks Supervisor indicated a man had ran into the Long Island Sound to retrieve his dog.  The water was deep and the man began to call for help.  Sergeant Neary left his gear on the beach and entered the water wading to the man in jeopardy.  Officer Goncalves remained on the beach to direct the BFD personnel where Sergeant Neary…

Stratford News: One Dead In Crash

Police UPDATE: On 08/18/2022 at approximately 1:30 pm Officers from the Stratford Police Department responded to the area of South Ave and Spada Blvd to investigate a motor vehicle crash.Upon arrival, the investigation determined that a Honda driven by Jamar Blackburn (age 38) of Bridgeport exited I95 south at exit 31 and crashed into a Ford driven by Jason Fonseca- Kennedy (age 26) of Waterbury. Kennedy was traveling east on South Ave.The Ford pickup driven by Kennedy rolled over and the Honda driven by Blackburn came to rest a distance away on Spada Blvd. As a result of the crash, the roadways and associated exit ramp were closed for several hours while investigators managed the scene.On 08/22/2022 the victim, Jason…

Stratford News: Structure Fire

Stratford Fire UPDATE: At approx. 11:08 AM, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched to 65 Guzzi Drive,for a reported structure fire. On arrival, Engine 2 reported a fully involvedstructure fire. Under the command of Assistant Chief Brennan, Engines 1, 2, 3, 4,Tac5 and Truck 1 responded with a total of 22 firefighters and 1 Safety Officer. Thefire was located inside the living room of the 1,000-square-foot ranch-style single-family home. The fire was under control in approx. 20 minutes. The Milford andBridgeport Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident. Therewere no injuries reported.
