Kia & Hyundai Thefts Increase due to TikTok Challenge

On 8-16-22 just after midnight, Shelton Police were called to the area of Coram Aveand Hill St on a report of young males attempting to break into vehicles. The males werein a Hyundai that was reported stolen out of another town. It was then relayed that avehicle was stolen from Shelton.Police located the suspected stolen vehicle out of Shelton driving on the Derby/Shelton Bridge. Police conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested a 16 year old juvenile fromAnsonia. The juvenile was charged with Larceny 1 st Degree, Burglary 3 rd Degree,Criminal Trover 1 st Degree, and Operating a MV without a License. Today Congressman Himes visited Natural Annie, a soy-based candle company located at 1313 Connecticut Avenue where he made his own candle during his visit. The Woman Business Development Corporation was also on hand and provided Annie with funding and technical assistance. Annie plans to expand the business and invest in additional equipment to better serve her clients. Arrest Made In Bridgeport Homicide

Detective Heanue obtained an arrest warrant for Steven Hutchinson (DOB: 6/19/89 OF Bridgeport) for Saturday’s triple shooting and homicide on Knowlton Street. Hutchinson had been arrested shortly after the incident by Officer Baldwin and charged with weapons violations. Since then, Detective Heanue has obtained evidence that indicates that Hutchinson fired the gun that killed 21-year-old Troy Walker of Ansonia and seriously wounded two others. The shooting is believed to be the result of a robbery gone bad. The facts prove that Hutchinson and two other perpetrators approached the victims to rob them. The Connecticut Office of Workforce Strategy is being awarded a $23.9 million American Rescue Plan Good Jobs Challenge grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support the creation of the Strengthening Sectoral Partnerships Initiative.The initiative will provide resources to support ten Regional Sector Partnerships (RSPs) across Connecticut to train and place more than 2,000 people – particularly from historically-underserved communities – in high-demand jobs in four priority sector areas, including manufacturing, and healthcare, information technology, bioscience.The RSPs are a coordinated and collaborative team of public partners in education, workforce development, and economic development, led by businesses to collaboratively advance the industries’ competitiveness by providing the resources necessary to develop innovative programs to address the talent shortage. The victim, Xavier Miller, age 22, of Powell Terrace, Bridgeport was the driver and only occupant of an Infiniti that collided with a Subaru Crosstrek, operated by a Trumbull woman, on Monroe Turnpike.Just after 4:00 PM, the Trumbull Police received several 911 calls to report a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) at the intersection of Technology Drive.
