Bridgeport News: Affinity Ribbon Cutting

Today, a ribbon was cut at Bridgeport’s first cannabis dispensary, Affinity Dispensary, located in the West End at 2000 Commerce Drive. This dispensary is one of four locations set to open throughout Bridgeport. Ray Pantalena, the operator of Affinity, has dubbed this privately-owned location a "superstore," boasting an impressive 8,000 square feet, providing ample space to cater to both adult users and medical patients. Due to its substantial size, Affinity Bridgeport has earned the distinction of being the largest dispensary in Connecticut. Moreover, it is anticipated to generate 50 new jobs. Additionally, the dispensary is committed to contributing 3% of its sales tax back into Bridgeport through the Cannabis Trust Fund, an initiative currently underway with the Bridgeport City Council.…

GOVERNOR LAMONT AND TREASURER RUSSELL ANNOUNCE 7,810 BABIES HAVE BEEN BORN ELIGIBLE FOR CONNECTICUT BABY BONDS

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Treasurer Erick Russell today announced that 7,810 children across Connecticut have been born automatically eligible for the landmark Connecticut Baby Bonds program since it launched on July 1, 2023. Connecticut is the first state in the nation to fund and implement a baby bonds program aimed at building a brighter future for children born into poverty. Children whose birth is covered by HUSKY, the state’s Medicaid program, are automatically enrolled in the program and are having $3,200 invested on their behalf. BRIDGEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UNIT WARRANT SWEEP – OPERATION “SUNRISE AT CONGRESS 2024”

On January 17, 2024, the Bridgeport Police Department’s (BPD) Domestic Violence Unit conducted a warrant sweep designated as operation “Sunrise at Congress 2024”.  Several state and local law enforcement agencies participated in this operation to include the Westport Police Department, Monroe Police Department, Trumbull Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, Connecticut State Police (CSP) Violent Crime Task Force-BPT, CSP Gang Unit, BPD Tactical Narcotics Team, and the BPD Patrol Division.  These units addressed multiple outstanding arrest warrants in Bridgeport, Connecticut with a focus on Domestic Violence.
