(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong and the Federal Trade Commission announced a $4 million settlement with Manchester City Nissan and its owners and managers, resolving allegations that the business double-charged customers for “certified pre-owned” vehicles and collected unnecessary fees without consumer authorization. In January 2024, Connecticut and the FTC sued Chase Nissan LLC, which did business as Manchester City Nissan, along with its owners and managers over alleged unlawful conduct at the dealership. “Manchester City Nissan systematically ripped-off Connecticut customers through needless, unauthorized junk fees. ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG ISSUES STATEMENT AS TRIAL AGAINST META BEGINS OVER ALLEGED HARM TO CHILDREN

(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong issued a statement as Connecticut and a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general began presenting their case against Meta in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. In the lawsuit filed in October 2023, 29 states, including Connecticut, allege Meta deliberately designed its platforms to exploit young users’ vulnerabilities, foster compulsive use, and maximize the amount of time young people spend on Facebook and Instagram. The attorneys general also allege Meta knew about harms to young users but deceived users, parents, and the public about those risks. BRIDGEPORT TEEN CHARGED AS ADULT IN CATHERINE STREET MURDER

BRIDGEPORT, CT – A Bridgeport teen arrested last week in connection with the July murder of a man on Catherine Street was arraigned Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court. Jabez Holley, 17, was formally charged as an adult with Murder and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit. His bond was set at $1.5 million. Holley is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Leon Richardson at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026. Police said Richardson was sitting in a car he had just parked on Catherine Street, between Washington Avenue and Harral Avenue, when he was struck multiple times by gunfire. He died at the scene. NORWALK MAN CHARGED AFTER TWO PEOPLE STABBED DURING FIGHT

NORWALK, CT – Norwalk Police arrested a 35-year-old man after two people were stabbed during a fight involving approximately 10 to 15 people near Ely Avenue and Lowe Street early Sunday morning. Police said officers responded to the area at approximately 6:14 a.m. following a report of a large fight. When officers arrived, they did not observe an active disturbance and began interviewing witnesses and bystanders. During the initial investigation, officers arrested Friedston D. WESTPORT, CT – Westport Police extradited a 36-year-old New Hampshire man back to Connecticut in connection with a June disturbance at the Delamar Hotel and several outstanding failure to appear warrants. Police said officers responded to the Delamar Hotel, 1595 Post Road East, on the evening of June 14, 2026, after a neighboring guest complained to hotel staff about a loud argument in an adjacent room. BRIDGEPORT POLICE MAKE ARREST FOLLOWING 30-DAY NARCOTICS AND FIREARMS INVESTIGATION

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Following an approximately 30-day investigation into narcotics and firearms activity in Bridgeport’s East End, the Bridgeport Police Task Force identified Jamin McKoy of Bridgeport and Dayne Johnson of Bridgeport as targets of the investigation. Lead investigators Detective Carlos Vazquez and Detective Freddy Neal developed information and evidence during the investigation and subsequently obtained court-authorized Search and Seizure Warrants for McKoy, Johnson, and their associated residences. On August 5, 2026, the Bridgeport Police Task Force, with assistance from the Trumbull Police Department and the FBI, executed the search warrants.
