UPDATE: At approximately 6:49pm, Bridgeport Police responded to the 600 block of Park Avenue to report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers locate the victim and the suspect shortly thereafter. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound and the suspect has been taken into custody. Construction Begins On Waterbury Branch Line Station Upgrades

Governor Ned Lamont today announced the start of construction on major upgrades to four stations on the Metro-North Waterbury Branch Line, located in Derby-Shelton, Ansonia, Beacon Falls, and Seymour. Suspicious Person leads to arrest with an assault rifle On April 30, 2026, at 6:12 pm, patrol officers responded to 97 Richards Avenue for a suspicious person complaint. It was reported that an unknown male was sleeping in the rear stairwell of the building. Patrol officers made contact with the male, identified as Lance R. Jones, who initially provided a false name. As officers investigated further, it was determined that he was in possession of an AR-15 assault rifle, which was inside his bookbag.
