Report of a porch fire at the 100 block of North Main Street in Ansonia. First responders on scene are reporting that the porch is fully involved, and called in mutual aid from surrounding towns.
BOMB THREAT SUSPECT ARRESTED OUTSIDE TOTAL MORTGAGE ARENA
Bridgeport Police arrested a Killingly man Wednesday night after he allegedly called 911 and threatened to blow up the Total Mortgage Arena with an explosive device attached to his body. Security at the arena evacuated guests and employees after being notified of the threat. Police responded to the scene and established a perimeter around the area. Officers located the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Robert Elie of the Dayville section of Killingly, walking down the outside stairs of the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater next door. Police said that upon seeing officers, Elie threw his cell phone to the ground, causing it to break into pieces. Elie was taken into custody without incident. ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG SECURES COURT ORDER REQUIRING IMPLEMENTATION OF LIFE-SAVING SOOT STANDARD
(Hartford, CT) — Attorney General William Tong announced this week that a federal court has ordered the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) aimed at reducing fine particulate matter, commonly known as soot. The ruling from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted the states' motion for summary judgment and rejected the EPA's effort to block the lawsuit. In April, Attorney General Tong joined a coalition of 12 attorneys general in suing the EPA over its failure to implement a 2024 Clean Air Act rule strengthening national soot standards. Fairfield Police Promote Three
Lieutenant Eric Fuller, Sergeant Phil Galaske, and Sergeant Kevin Wells were formally sworn into their new positions today, surrounded by family members, friends, and fellow officers. Their promotions recognize the experience, hard work, and professionalism they have demonstrated throughout their careers serving the Fairfield community. Each will now take on additional leadership responsibilities while continuing to support the department and its commitment to public service. Lieutenant Fuller will serve in the Administrative Services Bureau. Convicted Felon Arrested With Stolen Glock During Bridgeport Task Force Patrol
On July 16, 2026, members of the Bridgeport Police Task Force made a firearm arrest in the East End of Bridgeport, further demonstrating the department's continued commitment to reducing violent crime and keeping neighborhoods safe. While proactively working in the area of Central Avenue and DeKalb Avenue, Task Force officers observed 19-year-old Semaj Johnson. Following a brief foot pursuit, Johnson was observed discarding a firearm. The firearm was photographed in place and recovered while wearing gloves to preserve evidence. The recovered firearm was identified through NCIC as a stolen Glock pistol. The firearm was equipped with a 30-round large-capacity magazine containing 22 rounds, with one additional round chambered. CT BEARDSLEY ZOO ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING EMPLOYEE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
“This afternoon, during the course of routine daily operations, a Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo staff member was maneuvering a fence with chain link when lightning struck in the area. The employee experienced contact from the electrical discharge. Out of an abundance of caution the employee went to the local hospital for evaluation. The employee is doing well, and no serious injuries were reported. The safety of staff, guests, and animals remains our highest priority. The Zoo continues to monitor weather conditions and follows established weather safety protocols.”

Lightning is the culprit of a Stamford fire on Knickerbocker Ave, a Norwalk fire on West Norwalk Road, and a Stratford fire on Rushtown Drive. This is all preliminary information based on radio reports and nothing is confirmed at this time.
