DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport’s New Clean Power Plant

#Bridgeport CT-- Today was the ceremonial flipping of an over-sized switch to the new gas powered 485 mega watt electric plant, It will provide clean electricity to over a half a million homes in the south-west area of Connecticut. President and COO of PSE&G said the plant has been operational for some time now. He was proud to point out that there was nothing to see coming out of the smoke stack saying it is an environmentally friendly plant. Governor Lamont commented that we need to rebuild Connecticut, we have a lot of old infrastructure including transportation that needs to be rebuilt. Fairfield News: Lifeguard Rescues Two At Lake Mohegan

2019-07-28 @ 2:34pm--#Fairfield CT-- An alert life guard noticed two brothers in distress at Lake Mohegan located at 960 Morehouse Highway and rescued the two boys single-handedly.  According to witnesses the boys swam out a little too far and began to panic when they realized they could not touch bottom with their feet.  The lifeguard was able to grab both boys bring both boys and bring them into safety.  The youngest, aged 6 swallowed some water.  He was checked out by paramedics from AMR and found out he was okay and released to his grateful parents.   I wanted to interview the lifeguard to tell the good news of his heroic feat but lifeguard supervisor Ben Gullatti asked me to…

Bridgeport News: Water Rescue At Seaside Park

#Bridgeport CT--Saturday-7-28-2019 @ 8:25 pm a call was received at the EOC for persons trapped on the break water at the mouth of Bridgeport Harbor just off shore from Seaside park. Fire fighters responded and initial reports were received that there were 3 persons stuck on the break water. Upon arrival fire personnel discovered it was a total of six individuals. Five men and one women were cut off from the shore when high tide came in and they were not able to return to shore,. Two fire boats were used to remove them from the break water and returned them safely to shore. There were no injuries to the individuals or Firefighters.

On Sunday March 17, 2019 at approximately 4:38pm officers responded to Home Goods, 1850 Post Road East, on a complaint of a stolen wallet. The victim reported that while shopping in the store she noticed that her wallet was missing from her purse. She reported that the missing wallet contained cash and numerous credit cards. The victim then began to receive notifications from her credit card companies that a large purchase had been made, and a second large purchase had been attempted, at two different local businesses.
