Fairfield News: No State Budget Cuts Library Hours

First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Interim Town Librarian Nancy Coriaty announced today that beginning Monday, August 14, 2017 the Fairfield Public Library - the Main Library and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library - will reduce hours of operation because of reduced staff and lack of a state budget. In response to the Town’s need to reduce expenses because of the State’s fiscal crisis and failure to pass a budget, the Fairfield Public Library Board of Library Trustees recently made the difficult decision to reduce hours. Bridgeport News: Murder Suspect Arrested

#Bridgeport, CT – Bridgeport Police are announcing that early this morning, Latrel Baker (DOB: 10/15/96 of 575 Burnsford Ave) was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree in connection with the April 30th death of Victor Diaz. He is the being held on a $150,000 bond and is the second person charged in this case.  This relates to an incident on April 27, 2017 when Bridgeport Police responded to Saint Vincent's Hospital on a report of an assault. According to witnesses, Victor Diaz (DOB: 9/12/1990) was assaulted by several friends at Dewhirst Street and Baker Street, during which he suffered an asthma attack.  Diaz was admitted to the hospital and three days later, on April 30th, 2017, he died.
