Thanks First Responders!

My 87 mother in law had a fall today.  Thank you Life Alert and the Fairfield Emergency Dispatch  for getting the care to her right away.  Special thanks to AMR that kept her calm and took VERY good compassionate care of her.  Thanks to the Fairfield Fire Department for the same great care and for checking all the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors while they were there.  I had little to no interaction with the police officer that was there but there are many times I hear on the radios that the police officer dispatched is the first to provide care, often life saving.

She is home with a couple staples and stitches after the great care from the nurses,  doctors, orderlies and staff.  I’m fortunate to not have to deal personally with the first responders.  I see them all the time in my reporting but I don’t get to see first hand the compassion and dedication they have all the time.   We are so lucky to live in an area with such outstanding professional!

Westport News: Regs On Animals on Town Properties

#Westport–Westport Parks & Recreation Director Jennifer Fava today reminded residents of regulations related to animals on Town Property.

Effective April 1, animals will not be permitted at Compo, Old Mill, and Burying Hill Beaches. Animals in or out of vehicles will not be allowed on any beach property which includes all grass, sand, and parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area. The regulation is in effect until October 1.

Ms. Fava said, “Warm weather will be here before we know it, and we are looking forward to participating in the many outdoor activities available to residents. We have regulations in place to insure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to enjoy the public beaches, fields and facilities in Westport.” “For the safety and well-being of the public and athletes, and to help keep ball fields in good playing condition, animals are not allowed on playing fields at any time of year. It is recommended that dogs remain on leash while on the perimeter of these town facilities. Also, owners are welcome to walk dogs on leash on the road around Longshore Golf Course, but animals are not allowed on the course at any time.”

Ms. Fava continued, “We love our furry friends and dogs are always welcome at Winslow Park. Located at Compo Road North and Post Road East, Winslow Park has posted on- and off-leash areas. The public is requested to heed those posted regulations while enjoying the park with Additional information regarding Parks and Recreation policies are found at westportrecreation.com.
